Mobile homes are pre-1993 factory-built movable residences that were created before HUD standards were established. Homes built after these standards are referred to as Manufactured Homes, which must comply with federal building regulations. Manufactured Homes are placed on a permanent chassis, which includes the frame and wheels. In contrast, a modular home is constructed on a permanent foundation, such as a basement orings, and adheres to local and state building codes, also known as IRC codes.
